Global warming
Cockermouth and global warming

I am utterly sick of questioning global warming being seen as blasphemy! Last night on Question Time some random woman squarely blamed GW for the floods in Cockermouth. Let me say first of all how sorry I feel for the people affected by these floods. It must be truely aweful. But that's not the point.
Firstly, there have been big floods in Cumbria/Lake District before. I wonder why there are lakes in the Lake District by the way. Probably because the Lake District sees a lot of rainfall? The tragedy about this woman on QT splurting out the crap that she did shows to me that the brainwashing that goes on seems to be working. Now, on a lunchtime program on BBC2 yesterday or the day before the program showed a video of Bianca Jagger talking about GW. This video featured music used by hypnotherapists to get their clients in a trance. If you know anything about this sort of thing you will know that it can be used to manipulate people by reaching their subconcious mind. Why is that necessary and why does the BBC subscribe to that?
The argument has been blown open this week through some hacked e-mail exchanges between scientists which makes thinking people wonder (or it should in any case) whether there is a case at all to be made that GW actually is taking place.
Now back to Cockermouth. Is it not very convenient for the powers that be to be able to blame the Cockermouth disaster on GW? Of course it is! It hasn't got anything to do with underinvestment by any chance? The spring floods of 1953 that cost so many people's lives in the South West of The Netherlands were followed by a huge investment by their government in flood defences. That sounds reasonable to me. In the UK we'll simply wait for the next flood to occurr which we can then again blame on GW which in turn will then of course further strengthen the argument.
This is interesting too! Have a look!

Agreeing with Clarkson

I never thought I would agree with Jeremy Clarkson on anything. This has changed, I found one thing that I have in common with him and that's the dislike of Toyota Prius or better still Toyota Pri-Ass. If you ask yourself why does J33PER have a dislike for saving the planet, please read my previous blog entry.
Just for the record, I certainly want to do my bit for the planet but fact of the matter is that everyone is running around like headless chickens. We need information based on reliable data that is not motivated by profiteering. In the UK we badly need a strategy and action on energy provision that is "green", affordable and reliable without the need to rely on any other country to provide us with our energy needs for the future. Nuclear is probably a good option. All this stuff needs to be based on what CO2 emmissions producing these things cause against what it will save.
I am pleased to in fact drive the "greenest" vehicle available today. CO2 emmissions should be measured from dust to dust and the Wrangler has been proven to be the best. More here... oops, that server seems to be no longer available. Hmm... wonder why... OK then, try this one.
Have you ever asked yourself what happens to the money you pay EasyJet to off-set your carbon emmissions for a flight?
