It’s Apple
In 1986 J33PER got hold of his first Macintosh computer which was revolutionary in its day. Today, some twenty three years later, the Apple iPhone 3Gs is equally as impressive. After lots of Nokia's and Mobile Windows devices, the iPhone is more than a breath of fresh air. Why because it works and beautifully so!

iTunes
To interface with your Mac or PC you would use iTunes, Apple’s own application. iTunes has been around for some time and I have used it with my iPod. iTunes with iPhone doesn’t work any differently and in no time was I up and running, having uploaded apps, video and all my music.

e-Mail
For my work it is important to be able to have access to my business and private e-mail. iPhone makes this very, very easy indeed and in no time was I connected to my company’s Exchange Server. Since we ditched Exchange Server and went with Google Apps I found the iPhone to interact with that equally as good and issue free. My addresses, tasks and calendar are all kept nicely in sync without having to think about it. If I remember the issues with my Windows Mobile device, this certainly is refreshing.

All in one
In the past I have schlepped my iPod, digital camera, mobile phone and GPS around with me. These are now replaced with the iPhone so I’ve only got one thing to forget... handy at my age!
The GPS, Phone and iPod functions are better than one individual device for each could be. The digital camera is OK but don’t expect anything too much. It lacks flash and zoom, but hey...

J33PER can't even remember the specification of his very first Apple Mac. It probably had 128 MB of memory with a single floppy drive. The picture on the left shows what is now called the Mac Classic. The purchase of the iPhone re-ignited J33PER's interest in Apple Computers. We now have a Mac Mini in place with 4Gb RAM running Snow Leopard. After years on Windows one has to get used to the interface and the only thing that kinda bugs J33PER is the Finder. Windows' Explorer is a far better tool than Finder. Other than that, the Mac Mini inspires! It just does things very nicely and if you have any creativity in you, the Mac will bring it out of you. As a good friend said to me once; It's hard to describe a camel, but you know one when you see one!
O2, Tesco, Orange and Vodafone
Up to the Autumn of 2009, iPhones were only available through O2. This necessitated me to switch from Orange to O2 back in the summer. Fortunately, Apple saw sense and made non exclusive agreements with other providers.
Connectivity to O2 isn’t always as good as it could be and at times the signal completely disappears where before you had a reasonable signal in the same spot. A bit of a mystery that.

One of the things least liked about the iPhone is mentioned in the previous paragraph and that's network reception. When at home, J33PER's signal or the iPhone's reception of it is poor. Therefore J33PER uses Skype to call at home as an alternative. The quality of the Skype call is just as good and cheaper to boot!
